South African DJ and producer Ashley ‘Shimza’ Raphala has continued his philanthropic drive and recently donated 1000 school shoes to children in his township Tembisa.
In November 2023, Shimza formed THE HUB, an initiative with a level three SETA accreditation, in collaboration with the Hollywood Foundation an initiative aimed at providing hands-on, real-world experience that can improve job prospects, the internship aims to break the cycle of poverty.
This week, his Shimuzic Foundation organized a shoe drive as the culmination of this altruistic spirit. The program, which works with the Hollywood Foundation, is appropriately called “1000 Hopeful Soles,” reflecting its goal of giving students comfort and hope.
Shimza took to Instagram to share photos of the shoe drive in Tembisa.
“For the community by the community! 🙏🏾♥️ We did it! 🙏🏾♥️ Over 1000 Hopeful Soles ready for the 2024 school year,”
He also took X (formerly known as Twitter), and attributed his DJ career as the gift that has allowed him to give back to the community.
